the find function in ie 7 works the same as the one in ie 6 because JAWS uses the JAWS find function when CTRL+f is pressed. So the following works on ie 6 and 7 with jaws 8 and 9 with no difference. 1. go to http://www.freedomscientific.com 1a make sure that the virtual cursor is active 2. press ctrl + home to go to the top of the page 3. Press CTRL+F JAWS says "virtual find, JAWS find" 4. type "JAWS" and press enter 5. the Jvirtual cursor lands on the word JAWS. -----Original Message----- From: jfw-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:jfw-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx]On Behalf Of Kane Brolin Sent: Wednesday, December 19, 2007 1:59 PM To: jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: Different "Find"Function in IE7 With JFW Hello. I am being prompted to update my primary Windows XP Professional work computer to IE7, using JFW Ver. 8. (I am about to upgrade to JFW 9, but have not done this.) But I've noticed, when looking at other machines that have IE7 installed, that the CTRL+F find function operates differently. In IE6, I often use this FIND feature, particularly if I'm looking for a specific block of text or link that I know is on a page which I visit frequently. I just type what I want into the FIND field, press ENTER, and my Virtual PC Cursor just goes there instantly. But I type CTRL+f in IE7 and am immediately taken to a search box containing several fields. I must enter Forms mode. And when I type my chosen text string and tab over to the NEXT button, I'm still in the search box afterward. And after I hit ESCAPE to go back to the page, my Virtual PC Cursor has not moved to what I'd been looking for. So it looks as though things should work in IE7 just as they always did in a Microsoft Office app with the Find/Replace function. But for me it doesn't work. What am I missing? I want to make sure I understand JFW-related quirks so I can operate efficiently in this program before I upgrade to it. Thanks. -Kane -- JFW related links: JFW homepage: http://www.freedomscientific.com/ Scripting mailing list: http://lists.the-jdh.com/listinfo.cgi/scriptography-the-jdh.com JFW List instructions: To post a message to the list, send it to jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx To unsubscribe from this mailing list, send a message to jfw-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the word unsubscribe in the subject line.
