Audigy may not work well with software speech synthesizers like Eloquence. Not sure why but I think it has to do with switching sampling rates.
Also, the Creative software is often nearly inaccessible. However, you rarely need to use it.
I have an Audigy 4 pro that is used for music. I use the built in Realtech chip on my motherboard for Jaws and system sounds. It was really tricky getting both to work together. Creative installs software that runs at startup that interfeered with the Realtec. I was lucky I got it to work at all because HP doesn't support two sound cards.
