Your sound system in combination with your system performance bring you the
crackles. You may be able to update your sound-driver or reduce the audio
accelleration under the speakers tab of sounds and audio devices, but you might
not be able to fix it. I've had this same problem with a SB64D Sometimes it
happens and sometimes not. If you know how to defrag diskclean, or edit
registry items that might be a final step in solving the problem.
