Hello there;if you want to password protect a document in Microsoft Office 2007, try the following;
I would suggest you try this with a test document first. 1, open Microsoft word2007. 2, type a few test lines of text. 3, now use the following keystroke, alt+f then the letter a this will get you to the save as dialog. type in your document name, example test. 4, now use the keystroke, alt+l=tools, you should hear jaws announce tools,5, press the applications key, down arrow until you hear general, press enter.
you should hear something like, password edit. once you have typed in you're password, tab to protect document.I hope these steps are accurate, since I'm not around my machine which has office2007.
let me no if this works for you.----- Original Message ----- From: "Devona" <djasister@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx>

I don't think they would make JAWS less secure than a screen would be.Bill White billwhite92701@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx----- Original Message ----- From: "Adrian Spratt" <Adrian@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>To: <jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Monday, August 02, 2010 7:12 PM Subject: RE: Characters in a password fieldHi, Bill.First, I doubt that's the rationale. As you know, we typically hear the results of our password keystrokes as X X X. JAWS is merely doing what itdoes: echo what's on the screen.Second, it ought to be for the user, not the website, to determine how to handle security matters of this kind. One person might wait until they're alone to do work requiring passwords, another might plug in headphones.The fact is there are times it would be very helpful to know if we've typedin a password correctly. I remember trying to help a visually impairedfriend create a password for the NLS BARD website, which is more stringent than any bank I've ever encountered. Not only does NLS specify the minimum number of characters and a mix of digits and letters, but it also prohibitsrepetition of any character. Between figuring that out, communicationproblems and that person's less than admirable typing skills, we took awhole hour. How I longed that day for character echo!! -----Original Message-----From: jfw-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:jfw-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On BehalfOf Bill White Sent: Monday, August 02, 2010 9:47 PM To: jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: Re: Characters in a password fieldNo, there isn't. If you had JAWS on speaker, everyone else would get the echo as well as you. That would be even worse than it being visible on screen, since it could be broadcast to a wider audience. It's a securityissue.
