RE: AVG 8 slowing my computer down

From what I've read, no, pcs should be able to run 24x7.  Now, you can block 
the air-flow, leave it in a room which is inadequately cooled, etc., and run it 
long enough and you could have some damage; however, I think you would not have 
fire, I think you'd have a blown circuit breaker (built-in) or fuse, or a 
shutdown if it's a more modern pc as they have temperature sensors on the cpu.
