May I ask a couple of questions:
1. On what platform? [Windows, Mac OS, Linux, etc.]
2. Does this have to be a JAWS script? I can think of ways to do this
using a Windows batch or Power Shell script or the equivalent under a
Unix/Linux environment.
3. What are you using as the basis for when a file was created and where
it belongs in the sequence, or is that irrelevant so long as everything
from one year is numbered sequentially?
4. Are the files organized already by year or will you be hitting random
files that could come from different years?
5. Do you know how many years and what the year range actually is?

documents it becomes very boring and needs a lot of concentration not to
make mistakes.
Now, I want to write a script that adds an increment each time it is
executed whenever I want to rename the file. I want the increment to be
added only to the number before the dash and not the number after the
dash. Is that possible? if yes, please help me write it.
