Hi,

I think we are going to need sighted assistance to sort this one out -
can you get someone to check the device manager to see if the sound card
is listed under sound, video and game controlers? It is possible that
something in the card is malfunctioning, and it is quite possible that
the sound card won't appear in the list, causing obviously no sound. In
this case, when you do get sound you may see an extra item under this
list.

Sorry to be so vague, but it is probably going to be a bit of
troubleshooting on your part to fix this.

Andrew.

Subject: [jaws-uk] switch on query

Hi all,

Just lately I have had a problem in that when I switch on my PC, I get
no sound. JAWS doesn't talk and I don't even get the opening jingle.

Consequently I have to switch off at the tower and turn back on again.

Tonight I had to do this three or four times before JAWS started
talking.

Last night I came off the computer as JAWS had crashed and I was going
out.

Can anyone advise me as to what I could do in this situation as it is
getting rather annoying.

I currently use windows ME and JAWS Version 4.02.

Regards

Paul.
