[jaws-uk] switch on query

Hi all,
Just lately I have had a problem in that when I switch on my PC, I get no
sound. JAWS doesn't talk and I don't even get the opening jingle.
Consequently I have to switch off at the tower and turn back on again.
Tonight I had to do this three or four times before JAWS started talking.
Last night I came off the computer as JAWS had crashed and I was going out.
Can anyone advise me as to what I could do in this situation as it is
getting rather annoying.
I currently use windows ME and JAWS Version 4.02.
