Hi George.

Thanks for the information. I'm afraid I haven't got anywhere with that
either as I don't know what to check or uncheck. I'm quite a novice at
these things so I'm wondering if I should just uninstall real player so I
should automatically use media player in the future. What do you think>

Sue.

Hi Sue,

There appears to be a similar option in Real Player.
Perhaps you need to do some major unchecking there. The
following is from real Player's help files.

To view the current file-types that your Player can play and
which it plays by default:

Click Tools > Preferences.=20
Expand the Content area and select Media Types.=20
Click Advanced.
Checked types are played by RealPlayer by default.

Hi David and George.

I've done what you both suggested but my music is still
being played through real player. Have you got any other
suggestions?

Sue.

To set Windows Media Player as the default mp3 player:
1. Open Windows Explorer ( Windows key + E ) 2. Choose
Folder Options from the Tools menu.
3. The Folder options dialog opens. Move to the File Types
page/tab of this dialog.
4. The first control on this page is a list of registered
file types. Select mp3 is this list, Tab to the change
button and press it.
5. An Open with dialog opens. Tab to the list "choose the
program you want to use". Select Windows Media Player in
this list, Tab to the OK button and press it.
6. You are returned to the Folder Options dialog. Tab to the
Close button and press it.

Hope this helps, it's a pain that realplayer tries to hijack
some of the settings.
David Bailes.
