Thank you so much, Mujtava. I'll have a look at it and see if it's worth setting it up. Best wishes, Joan. -----Original Message----- From: jaws-uk-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:jaws-uk-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Mujtaba Merchant Sent: 01 August 2013 02:34 To: jaws-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [jaws-uk] Re: BT Yahoo Mail Dear Joan, Below is a link that will tell you all that you need to know about IMAP and it's advantages. It's a option that is given to the user while setting up his/her email client like Outlook Express, Thunderbird, Microsoft Outlook etc. http://whatismyipaddress.com/imap Mujtaba Merchant Bangalore, India "Motivation is what gets you started, habit is what keeps you going." ~ Jim Rohn -----Original Message----- From: jaws-uk-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:jaws-uk-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Joan Muir Sent: Wednesday, July 31, 2013 6:40 PM To: jaws-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [jaws-uk] Re: BT Yahoo Mail Hi, Mujtava, What is an Imap account? I know everyone else will know this but I'm really not a techie. Is this a BT Internet function, or a GPS thing? I do worry about leaving all that deleted mail on the web because I remember years ago when it all came flooding onto my computer for some reason. Best wishes, Joan. -----Original Message----- From: jaws-uk-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:jaws-uk-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Mujtaba Merchant Sent: 31 July 2013 02:01 To: jaws-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [jaws-uk] Re: BT Yahoo Mail I manage my gmail with Outlook 2007 using the POP3 setup. And it's best for me to stick to managing my email that way. Once in a month I log on to the website and empty my SPAM folder and other junk emails from the inbox. This is because when you delete an email in outlook it does not delete it from the webmail account. You can have the cake and eat it too only if you agree to pay for an IMAP email setup. In this kind of setup your webmail account and outlook client are in sync and if you delete an email in outlook, the same will happen in your webmail. The thing with Yahoo is that it was fine the way it was up till last month and now it is really a mess. Their HTML view is our only hope. Despite switching to this view, you can't do all the stuff the sighted folks can. Like for example, you want to select a bunch of emails from your inbox and delete them, you can't. All you can do is check the boxes for each mail and get lost on what to do with them. I understand all these email services are putting their best foot forward towards accessibility, but what I fail to understand is that we are in 2013 and I think it should have already happened. I get really tired educating companies like linkedin, Google, Yahoo, Facebook etc. on basic accessibility design of their websites. I mean they should get it faster right?
