Gary-you may be getting a little ahead of the game, but here's answers to
the specific questions you've raised:
1. There are many ways to get dragon commands, but more specifically you
want the JSay commands. I would recommend that you use the command "get
command index", as well as the command "what can I do" when in supported
applications. In many ways the what can I do command will be easier for a
beginner because it will provide a high-level overview of the types of
things that one does in supported applications.
2. Numbers under 10 will be spelled typed out (according to rules of
grammar). So if you want a lower number to be typed as a numeral value you
say numeral, followed by the number in question, i.e., "6". However, if you
are dictating several numbers in a row you can simply say them, as Dragon
will understand that you were in eight "number string" mode.
3. There are many support features to help you understand how to do text
selection. The two most basic are to say "select X" (where X represents the
word or words in question), or something like "select previous three words".
