Judy- keep in mind that if you accepted the J-Say settings for DNS many commands like menu commands, etc. (e.g., "file") requires Click as part of the command ie, "click file". -ed. I used dragon 6 and didn't have the command problem. I am knew to j-say pro, but Brian may remember that I was one of the first Americans to purchase the program from Britain. This was before Next Generation handled it. My voice profile seems to be improving, but I have to get the command thing down. I have made sure to leave pauses and I don't raise my voice. I am going to listen to the presentations again. Thanks for the help, Judy -----Original Message----- From: j-say-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:j-say-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx]On Behalf Of Brian Hartgen Sent: Sunday, August 17, 2008 9:11 AM To: j-say@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [j-say list] Re: commands Judy, that is a very good suggestion. In particular, do listen to Sue's presentation. I have been working with J-Say for over five years now, but when I listened to Sue's presentation, it brought it home to me even more forcefully how you could deliver your commands in a firm but very relaxed style. During this past week, I delivered a presentation to an organisation who will potentially be purchasing a number of copies of the program, and I imitated Sue's relaxed methodology and the demonstration was flawless. So do think about that. Deliver the command quickly without a significant pause between the words and ensure that there is no speech before or immediately after the command. ----- Original Message ----- From: Sue Martin <mailto:smartin27@xxxxxxxxxx> To: j-say@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Sunday, August 17, 2008 2:32 PM Subject: [j-say list] Re: commands Hi Judy, It might be worth listening to a few presentations where you can see J-Say in action. If you go to the following page: http://www.ngtvoice.com/products/software/tandt/jsay/presentations.htm You'll find several of these presentations. One of the things that took a while for me to get used to was using an absolutely normal tone of voice consistently. When I was teaching J-Say the most common mistake that new users made was to speak too loudly. During the training of the voice profile, I'd often pause the training and encourage the trainee to pay attention to the volume and tone that he or she was using. Even though we all hear that we're supposed to speak naturally it's sometimes tempting to raise our voices when we're talking to a computer. -----Original Message----- From: j-say-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:j-say-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Judy W Sent: Sunday, August 17, 2008 8:21 AM To: J-Say@Freelists. Org Subject: [j-say list] commands Hi, Are there any suggestions out there about my commands going into text. I am waiting a second and saying the command in an authoritative voice. Some of them work intermittently and some just go in to the text. What can I do to improve this? I am very new to the product.
