Hullo all

I happened to open up my Iyonix - in a tower case - to find the
loudspeaker leads lying loose on the bottom of the case, connected to
the loudspeaker on the front panel, but not to the motherboard.
SNIP
The free end of the lead is connected to the two outer terminals of a
four in line plastic socket connector and I can see a four pin header
on the edge of the mother board close to the sound section and just
above the SCSI PCI board. I dare not plug it into this header in case
I blow something.

on the edge of the pcb, near the rear of the 'edge long pci sockt'
you'll find the 5 pin header to which this attaches

Hi John

I cannot find any such five pin headers, only four or six pin, which
conform to your description. Perhaps you could quote the relevant PL
number which are printed in white on the motherboard.
The two I have found which I have found are both four pin headers and are
numbered PL 801 on the back edge just above the top 'long pci socket' (USB
interface board) and PL 803 on the bottom edge just below the bottom 'long
pci socket' (video card).

ok.. 4 pin.. on edge of pcb.. NOT between sockets.. mea culpa

I don't have a pcb in front of me atm, so cannot give pl number.

John

I think you may mean PL 801 but it is a four pin header not five. The
loudspeaker lead is also a four pin socket connector suitable for fitting
to either with the speaker leads connected to the two outermost connections.

The motherboard has a white sticky label on it, presumably its serial
number, saying '016-00-16-36'. The Panther Iyonix itself has the serial
number 'IYO1004509' and was bought from CJE in 2005.

Thanks for your help, which I appreciate.

David
