No; you have to put it in neutral and set the handbrake. ;-) You can do this (Windows should pick up the change adn update the stack accordingly). You'll probably have to cycle the ISA Services, though. BTW, I don't recommend using WMI to do this. It looks really kewl, btu it's not PnP smart. Best that you use the GUI (yuk) or netsh commands. FI: netsh int ip set addr north static 123.123.123.123 255.255.255.0 123.123.123.1 1 means set the default IP address to 123.123.123.123 on interface named "north" to static and use a /24 netmask and make the default gateway 123.123.123.1 with a hop metric of 1. Adding an IP is even simpler: netsh int ip add addr north 123.123.123.123 255.255.255.0 Jim Harrison MCP(NT4, W2K), A+, Network+, PCG http://www.microsoft.com/isaserver http://isaserver.org/Jim_Harrison http://isatools.org Read the help, books and articles! ----- Original Message ----- From: "Bryan Andrews" <bandrews@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: "[ISAserver.org Discussion List]" <isalist@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Thursday, June 05, 2003 13:07 Subject: [isalist] change default ip of ISA on the fly? Any news on making internal servers appear to the world as a different external ip? http://www.ISAserver.org Can I change the default ip on the external nic of ISA while this is running? We would like to make another IP become the default for all traffic now and was hoping I could change the ip on the fly. I think windows will make us reboot though... BTW has anyone figured out a way to make internal published mailservers appear to the world as the IP address they are bound to (for out going connections)? ------------------------------------------------------ List Archives: http://www.webelists.com/cgi/lyris.pl?enter=isalist ISA Server Newsletter: http://www.isaserver.org/pages/newsletter.asp ISA Server FAQ: http://www.isaserver.org/pages/larticle.asp?type=FAQ ------------------------------------------------------ Other Internet Software Marketing Sites: Leading Network Software Directory: http://www.serverfiles.com No.1 Exchange Server Resource Site: http://www.msexchange.org Windows Security Resource Site: http://www.windowsecurity.com/ Network Security Library: http://www.secinf.net/ Windows 2000/NT Fax Solutions: http://www.ntfaxfaq.com ------------------------------------------------------ You are currently subscribed to this ISAserver.org Discussion List as: jim@xxxxxxxxxxxx To unsubscribe send a blank email to $subst('Email.Unsub')
