Hey Muqeem,

Sorry but I have never seen a product that could do that. Maybe someone
else in this list has? You might want to direct that email to a W2K
newsgroup specifically.

Hi Jason,
Thanks for your reply.. I have read and downloaded the VM Ware.. infact
I know of its existence since the last 2-3 years, the question I was
asking was that I know of the dual booting feature of Win NT 4.0 and Win
2K... I needed to find out if I can add more options to the default
restarrt options that win 2k provides.... if you say shutdown.. it comes
back with the followign options..
log off
shut down
stand by and
restart

I want to have the following options when i say shut down... I have to
following instances of server on my machine and the boot.ini file has
been edited to reflect the names or instances of the operating system
installed as................
blah blah blah.... server
                         server VGA Mode
                         server (Domain)
                         server (Workgroup)
I would like to have the following options on my restart command... that
it should ask me as to shich instance it should automatically reboot
to....
I mean when you reboot the machine.. it either reboots to the default
option or waits for you to point the option you wanted...thats the only
two ways you can configure the boot.ini file.... I want to have the
following options when i want to reboot the server.

log off
shut down
stand by
restart (server-domain)
restart (server-workgroup)

Muqeem,

This would be known as configuring a dual-boot system. Dual-booting
would give you the option to choose the OS you want to load but only one
OS would be available on the network at a time. A better option is to
load VMware.

VMware lets you configure virtual machines running on top of the host
OS.

For example, you could build your W2K machine as a member of the domain.
Then install VMware 3 workstation, configure a virtual machine with W2K
as member of a workgroup and then you can work with the W2K server in
the workgroup while you host OS continues to be available on the
network.

Check out VMware for more details... http://www.vmware.com/

Hi All,
Though this is not an ISA related issue, butI thought I could still try
it with the Guru's here.
I would like to set restart options on win 2k machines.. I mean if I
have a machine with multiple instances of win 2k installed on it, and
say I had one instance that was confgiured to log on to a domain and
another instance that is configured to be a member of a workgroup.... is
there any registry setting that I can include to prompts me to choose an
opeiton when I want to restart the machine ... asking me which instance
should the machine reboot to...

Say i was running an instance and was logged on to my domain.. now for
testing purpose... if I wanted to reboot to the instance that is
configured to be a part of the workgroup.. the only options that I have
noticed is that it reboots to a specific instance by default... after
waiting for 30 seconds.. or I can configure it to wait till a particular
instance is chosen.. is there any way that I can have 2-3 reboot options
which ask me which instance it should reboot to .. when it restarts
again.

Regards
