Hi Paul,

A number of people have reported this same issue when one end is Windows
2000 and the other Windows Server 2003. I haven't heard about any
solutions, or even what the issue might be.

There aren't any public KB articles on this issue yet, but I'd bet a
nickle that PSS is aware of it internally ;-)

BTW -- great article today on RPC over HTTP. One question, where can I
find those scripts you mentioned that automatically configure the
Exchange Servers?

Thanks!
Tom

Subject: [isalist] VPC file == "bad data"

http://www.ISAserver.org

Scenario: two networks, TOL and RED. I want to set up an on-demand VPN
between them.

Proposed approach: use "Configure a Local VPN" button in Network
Configuration page of ISA Management snap-in. Walk through the steps to
create a VPC file and send it to the admin at RED.

Result: importing the file fails with an error message: "Bad data".

Trying the process in reverse (e.g. Creating the VPC file on RED and
sending
it to TOL) fails in the same manner.

A thread in the newsgroup seems to indicate that this might be an OS
mismatch; red-isa01 is a W2K3 box and tol-isa01 is W2K. This appears to
be a
known problem, but I'm darned if I know the solution (other than setting
it
up manually, which is what I did).

Cheers,
-Paul
