RE: Publishing another SMTP Server through ISA

I think I just confused myself. If you don't mind lets start with
setting up the domains. I have 2 domains so far:
www.nusolutions.biz
www.nubiint.com

Exchange is configured to receive email for nuSolutions.biz.
nubiint.com is the postnuke website that will need to reply to user
requests.

ISA is acting as the SMTP Relay and it has mail.nusolutions.biz created
as the domain using the IP of the internal exchange server as the
smarthost.

I install SMTP on the web server and create a new remote domain named
mail.nubiint.com and configure it to use the IP of the ISA server as the
smarthost. Do I need to create a remote mail.nubiint.com domain on the
ISA/SMTP Relay server? Should I be using the IP of the exchange server
as the smarthost also?

Sorry but it's 4am and I've maxed out so I have to revert back to the
basics because I'm missing something.

Thanks

What happens is once you have your domains setup
*.domain1.com
*.domain2.com
those will get forwarded to your exchange machine.
I have my SMTP relay as incoming only and then forward out through
another
connection.
if *.domain3.com tries to send mail to you then that will sit in the
queue
and not
get transfered back to your exchange machine.

I find that my webserver, which is sitting a workgroup, is no longer
authenticating my domain accounts. I can no longer add domain accounts
and SIDs are showing for the ones that were originally added. I'm trying
to figure out what caused this but I'm not having any luck. So what's
happening is that after adding the domain account in SMTPcred.exe and
trying to connect to the ISA server via the ISA console on the web
server I get an error advising that I don't have the necessary
permissions to perform this act. Connection failed. I'm thinking it's a
matter of the web server not having access to the ISA server or
something along those lines. Event logs show nothing in regards to
authentication so I'm drawing a blank. At this point I'm also not sure
if this would still prevent the SMTP server on the web server from
sending mail on behalf of the website, so I need a way to check this.

Thanks

Hi,

What are your connectivity issues in regards to:

SMTPcred.exe points to the internal ISA server but I'm unable to connect
to the ISA server from the ISA console on the web server due to
permissions and authentication issues

Lemme see if I follow:

Ext ISA > Int ISA(SMTP Relay) > ExchangeServer(SMTP) >
WebServer(SMTP) > Int ISA(SMTP Relay) or ExchangeServer(SMTP)

Ext ISA NIC >> Int ISA NIC(SMTP Relay) > Internal ExchangeServer
(SMTP) & Internal WebServer(SMTP)

SmartHost = ISA Server

The IP on the external interface of the ISA server that's
assigned to mail.mydomain.com should publish to the internal exchange
server via the SMTP Relay Server. The internal web server uses the
internal interface of the ISA or exchange server as its SmartHost to
publish to the ISA/SMTP Relay server.

SMTPcred.exe points to the internal ISA server but I'm unable to
connect to the ISA server from the ISA console on the web server due to
permissions and authentication issues.

What the preferred or suggested method for testing connectivity
in ISA?

Thanks
