Very high-level, setup your external (public) MX record(s) to point to
the external interface of the firewall you want to use for incoming mail
and then configure your Exchange server to forward to the internal
interface of the firewall you want to send outgoing mail through. They
don't need to be one in the same, as long as your Exchange servers know
the difference.

 Can I direct outgoing mail through a different firewall than incoming
mail?

Firewall = ISA server 2K

Exchange = 2K

And if so, how?
