Hi Chris, If the service is running on the ISA firewall, and only external hosts are accessing the service, then a packet filter is the only requirement. No Server Publishing Rule is required because you don't gain anything from creating one. The advantage of Server Publishing Rules is that it can expose the connection to ALF. And hey, while its not a best practice, its a cute, tiny little service. How many boxes do you think I am allowed to have??? <grin> Next you'll want me to test on a lab set up! <bigger grin> Thanks Tom! Services on the firewall? What will I hear next? ;-) In that case, you can either use a Server Publishing Rule or a packet filter. NEVER are both required.
