Please also note that my lobbying Dennis Hood (MLC) created a new bill to be
introduced into parliament today to make sure police & councils understand
the Rights of assistance dogs & their owners where potentially injured by
animal, human or moving objects such as Cycles etc. - Those with a Guide Dog
may like to contact Dennis Hood's office & thank him for listening to my
submission & acting upon it.

You would have also seen we have been very busy lobbying service providers,
Council of the Aging, politicians & attending radio & TV interviews re the
soon to be rolled our cycling on pedestrian footpaths. We are still tackling
this behind the scenes.

Below is an email pertaining to Royal Commission into Institutional
Responses to Child Sexual Abuse.

* BCA National Policy Development Committee

Dear all,

People with Disability Australia will be visiting South Australia from
Monday 19th - Friday 23rd October in relation to our work on the Royal
Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse. The Royal
Commission is exploring how to keep children safe, and they are encouraging
everyone who has a story to tell about child sexual abuse in organisational
settings to come forward and share their experience.

1. We are seeking meetings with a range of South Australian services,
including disability services, advocacy organisations and Royal Commission
Community Based Support Services, to discuss our project, Disability Support
for the Royal Commission. Please contact me at meredithl@xxxxxxxxxx
<mailto:meredithl@xxxxxxxxxx> or 0428 124 264 to let me know what time
suits you.

2. We will be running three information sessions. These will cover
information for people with disability, for their supporters, for staff and
ex-staff, and for whistleblowers who may have experienced and/or witnessed
child sexual abuse in an organisational setting. It will include information
about what PWDA can do to help. Professionals will be in attendance to
provide support if required.

Sessions will be held:

Port Augusta, Monday 19th October, 2pm-3.30pm

Adelaide, Tuesday 20th October, 2pm-3.30pm

Mount Gambier, Wednesday 21st October, 2.30pm-4pm

We would appreciate you circulating this information, and printing out the
attached posters about the information sessions and putting them up,
especially in areas used by people with disability.

3. We will be running a focus group to consult with people with
disability about how safety can be improved for children with disability
within organisational settings. This is part of a National research project,
and a report from the research will be sent to the Royal Commission.

If you know anyone who would like to participate in this session, please
pass along my contact details to them. The attached blurb provides some
additional information about the focus group session, including who we are
seeking to hear from, and the compensation that will be made available to
those participating.

The focus group will be held Friday 23rd October, 11am-3pm. RSVPs can be
sent to me, at meredithl@xxxxxxxxxx <mailto:meredithl@xxxxxxxxxx> .

If you have any questions or queries, or would like to arrange to meet with
us to discuss the Royal Commission and/or our work, please do get in
contact. Jess Cadwallader or myself can be contacted at the details below.

We look forward to engaging with you all.

Thanks,

Meredith
