Hi Lynne,

I will probably go to B and H or J and R. Bob has an Asus which has a smaller
keyboard. My Toshiba, however, has many programs that someone had to turn off
because it wanted you to u se them instead of the windows programs that I use.
There were more graphics.

Is there a computer that you know many blind people are using?

Thanks about the windows tutorial. I also heard that I have to use something
other than Outlook Express. We read a little about Windows Livemail, but
there may be something better.

Sharlene
P.S. Bob said that the Email I sent to Ellen will go to everyone, so sorry for
the repetition in these messages.

  Hi, Sharlene and Ellen.

Ellen, you're absolutely right. Sharlene, get thee to a store such as Best
Buy and literally feel up the laptops they're offering.

And, yes, there are many tutorials on Windows 7. I'll gladly point you to
some.

I use windows 7 in its basic form and it's ok. JAWS takes a bit of time to
start up but that seems standard. Even the JAWS on our Windows 7 NetBook at
CCVIP takes some time to start up. Brew some coffee while you're waiting. grin

I think the biggest thing to get used to will be the new Start menu, where
you can search and which has two panes. They might indeed be a pain at first
but they really are quite convenient. I'll send a brief audio tutorial through
the list upon our return from my mom's.

More to come and enjoy your day.

  Lynne

  Hi Sharlene,

I purchased my net book from Buy.com. I get daily lists from them and
usually they include several net books. I would be happy to send the one that
comes tomorrow if it contains interesting options.

Also, I bought a Gateway lap top from Best Buy--It was impossible to order
the laptop directly from Bestbuy--but it certainly has a full key board
My reader should be here later today, I will try and remember to ask her to
check the model munber. I think it would be worth it to go to one of the many
Bestbuy stores to check things out!

As for Windows 7...I would be thrilled to learn the intricacies of windows 7
myself!
  Ellen

  Hi everyone!

  My netbook is dying! weep!

Has anyone purchased a new laptop or netbook lately? I am interested in a
full keyboard, loud sound, and alt and control keys on both sides. Also, does
anyone know if there is a good tutorial (not just a manual) on windows 7? I
guess I will need to learn a new Email since outlook express won't work.
Finally, are we meeting at the end of June or in July?

If you are kind enough to answer these questions, keep in mind that I am
neither a great computer user nor a great student. Simple is my friend.

Any comments or advice will be greatly appreciated.

  Thanks much.
  Sharlene
