Hav you checked out Apache Lucene / Solr?
Zimbra uses Apache Lucene library for indexing and search. However, the
community edition comes with very limited search options. They have more
sophisticated search options such as full text search, attachment search
etc in their Network Edition which you have to pay for. Thats one of the
features with which they differentiate their paid products from community
version.
One of the options is to setup a Apache Solr based full text indexing and
search server for Zimbra and feed your emails with Sor Data Import handler.
