[Ilugc] web hosting doubts

If I am a service provider, then how to implement
this?
I am talking abt neither client side nor web
interface. I need details abt the server side.

My understanding as follows
  i) I can have single ip address for all
subdomains(a.abc.com, b.abc.com,...)
  ii) Configure virtualhost(apache)for all
subdomains.
Since the No. of subdomains are high,its not an
easy
job to configure the virtualhost each time when I
create a subdomain.

Is my understanding correct?

Any suggestion to make it simple?

AFAIK, When you are going to host your site with
some hosting 
service provider, he doesn't gives you the control
over 
the apache configuration files. Instead there will
be a control 
panel for your site which will allow you to create
sub-domains 
painlessly. Most of the providers use Ensim for
control panel.
