Good choice on Drupal. I'm a rapid Drupal fan. I've implemented it for
3 quite active (and public) sites, and have absolutely no regrets.
It's not a quick solution tho - requires that you actually read the
documentation and go through the forums and get a couple of books. But
it's the best CMS out there (IMHO).
Which modules you need are going to depend on what you want to do :) I
think it would probably be a good idea for ILUGC to host a DrupalCon
or Drupal session at the very least so that there could be discussion
about what works and what doesn't.
BTW I had set up the CMS for a radio station (kruufm.com) where users
can upload podcasts. So file management is pretty well implemented. A
few answers to your points:
1. multi useryup
2. every user can upload files on any formatyup - but this has to be managed based on php file upload limits.
3. email notification on new file arrival to all usersyup, there are modules to do this.
4. searchyup. search functionality in drupal is decent, but there are so many
5. download linkyup
6. if file is video or audio play it online.yup
7. list file by user, type, tag, category etc.yup - based on the module u use. the good thing is that u have full
Friends.
We all prepare documents, presentations, videos, screencasts, podcasts
on Linux and other Free Open Source Software.
There is no common website where can we upload them all.
So, I wish to make a one.
I bought the space.
now, I need a CMS - Content Management System.
Requirement is
1. multi user
2. every user can upload files on any format
3. email notification on new file arrival to all users
4. search
5. download link
6. if file is video or audio play it online.
7. list file by user, type, tag, category etc.
Please suggest me a CMS which suits for this requirement.
I am trying Drupal.
But dont know what modules to add.
waiting for your suggestions.
