got home-500 bsnl broadband. type 2 modem. plugged in modem, went to
http://192.168.1.1, ran the wizard, chose dynamic IP, pppoe, gave
username and password and everything worked. In kubuntu - didnt have
to do anything else. weird.
whats wrong with that ? your modem/router supports nat and assigns ip , so
all that you need to do once configured(the modem itself ... initial setup
with username and password ) is just connect it to the computer .... ! that
has its network interface set to recieve address from dhcp (default) or is
set to any ip in the same subnet range.
