into going too deep
into crypto.
Start with basic concepts such as those described in
sag / nag for good
systems and network design and security
layer crypto on top of that .. you'll pick up a
working knowledge as you
go along, without having to go as deep into crypto
theory initially
in fact picking up schneier without having a good,
solid foundation in
systems and network admin, design etc is not a
productive thing to do
