This thread has effectively been hijacked. The poor guy asked for a tool
that create web pages, not names of frameworks that are used to write web
application. I am also a firm believer that "hand written" stuff is good for
many situations. The browser based front-end of our virtualization
management system is written in Python/TG. There is no DW involved anywhere.
There are businesses out there that I know are making a lot of money just by
making static web sites for customers. Due to the heavy competition, they
need to be quick and cheap. There are certain tools that help create good
looking, static web sites quickly and easily. And DW is one such tools. If
Ravi had asked for an alternate to ASP, most of the conversation in this
mail chain would have been valid. However, as a matter of fact, he *is*
asking for an alternative to DW. Taking into account what DW does, if anyone
can suggest an alternate tool that helps create static web pages visually,
it would have helped our man.
This thread has however been a lot of fun with Ken pitching in some jokes.
Now my turn for suggestions. Ravi, dude, use Emacs. OK, now that the thread
has turned irrelevant, I invite the vi guys for a flame war.
