[Ilugc] hostname problem

Hi everybody
I want to change the hostname in my linux box. i tried out >#hostname sriram
but the name changed only for that session. i >also tried out another option
# etc/hostname and #etc/hosts but it didn't work.
please let me know the other files where i need to change the >name.
To change the hostname edit the following file /etc/sysconfig/network.
This file contains the hostname entry change it to suit your needs.
