[Ilugc] booting problem

The notion has changed from hda to sda in the recent versions. That could be
one problem else you are not connecting the hard disk as slave of Primary
IDE controller.

But when I boot off the GnuParted Live rescue CD, it gives me an option at
grub menu to boot from the MBR it found after scanning. if i choose that
option, it OS boots fine.

can someone tell me whats going on and what could be the fix ?
