How about "device driver" instead?.
This process is starting to remind me of that khushwant singh joke about
the indian railways wanting to translate things into hindi .. and
translating "train" into "loh pad gamini yaan" (vehicle that moves on
iron tracks).
The common people will definitely prefer "karuvaadu" to "karuvi" so
trying to coin weird words is not going to impress them.
