here is my answer...
1. Have you installed the proper nvidia drivers ?
i don`t know what do you want to mean by "proper" driver. As i had
previous experience with Debian 3.1, there ( in debian) i installed
nvidia-linux driver for linux... before that, i installed kernel header and
kernel source. But now, in ubuntu what i should do... i don`t know.
2. And configured X to use them ?
i also don`t get what kind of configure do you want to tell.... as in
Debian, i configured /etc/X11/XF4Config by replacing "nv" with "nvidia"
3. What player are you using ?
i tried xine,totem.
4. What media are you playing the video file from ? [ dvd/cd/hdd ]
mainly dvd and also from hdd
5. What does "hdparm -d <hard disk>" say ? [ Eg : hdparm -d /dev/hda ]
my dvd rom shows this...
/dev/hdd:
using_dma = 1 (on)
