usually colleges like in Fedora Linux.



Better solution would be to use XFCE + latest distribution. If they are not
going to get updates or not able to install some development package then
it defeats the main purpose of using Linux. Also 1GB is good enough even
for gnome-shell (so xfce is not a problem). Mate can also be used in latest
OS if they want gnome-2 interface.
