Why Fedora 14? It is not supported any more, and has reached its End of Life.
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/End_of_life
We currently setup F18 (i386) on Core-2 Duo / i3 / i5 type processor
configurations.
As many engineering colleges still have P4 / Dual Core processor with
1 GB RAM we setup using Fedora 14 which performs well on these
hardwares. Most colleges we do workshop provide only lower
configurations for GNU/Linux lab setup and and use WinXP in highend
configurations (say i5).
Also the pretty old GNOME 2 style interface is the other reason which
usually colleges like in Fedora Linux.
