is that 'they can
hardly understand anything in *nix.
This might be because of lack of information abt
learning resources: which are good, where to get them.
We had the same problem in my M.S when we migrated to
Unix environment from windows ( My B.E is in
electrical). Fortunately, we had seniors to consult
and some of our colleagues were experienced.
There are resources on the net. The man pages in Unix
are very helpful too.
Learning to use man, basic use of unix, using gcc,
using debugger were some of the stumbling blocks that
I faced.
One thing that I realised: one needs lot of self
study.
If you expect the prof to teach everything, it wont
work. Its quite vast.
If you know faculty or people interested in gettin a
list of commands with some basic info and who wouldn't
mind sharin the info with other people who need it, I
dont mind compiling a short list of commands (very
basic).
I could put dir navigation, creation, using gcc (gnu c
compiler), gdb (gnu debugger)on it if u want. just
enough to get you started.
