[Ilugc] RH 8 problems?

or should I say GNOME problem?

  did Win2k/RH8 custom install with grub loaded on   
/boot partition

 h/w config: 
  pentium4 1.7 Ghz, 256 MB Ram, 
  Intel 845 onboard graphics.

 Opened a terminal console from gnome as regular user
  and typed in slocate X*|less.

Redraw bug in terminal. Not sure what terminal widget RH8 ships with.
zvt was unmaintained. GNOME 2.2 will use vte.  

So do not try anything that scrolls down too fast, like compiling code. 
Its awfully slow (even with GNOME 2.1.4 released today).

  was scrolling down with page down and next thing I  
  get: segmentation fault message and the terminal  
crashed.

  happened another time while using man command from
gnome desktop in terminal console

 Has anyone had any similar problems?

 Is it gnome or X-related or just problem with onboard
graphics?

Gnome is reason. Should be fixed when you up2date.

 Using I810 driver with 800*600 for 15inch (HP
monitor). This is my machine at office.
