[Ilugc] Problem reading a PPT file in Openoffice 2.3

Hi
 
I have a presentation (.ppt) downloaded from web. I am unable to open the file 
using Openoffice 2.3 in my ubuntu 7.10 system.  I understand MS office 
2003/2007 has issues with files created using older versions. Is there any 
tweak to open and read those documents using openoffice? I shall very much 
appreciate any help.
