hi,
i have Mandrake linux 8.2. i have installed Oracle 9iR2 Standard edition in
$HOME/ora_se/. i was able to connect to oracle and work with Sqlplus. i found
that in order to work with PRO*C, i need to install Oracle Client too. i
installed client $HOME/ora_client/. now i am not able to connect with Oracle
thru Sqlplus after keying in the user and password. it throws the following
message:
ERROR:
ORA-01034: ORACLE not available
ORA-27107: shared memory realm does not exist
Linux Error:2: No such file or directory
inside my .bash_profile file, i have my ORACLE_BASE and ORACLE_HOME both
pointing to the Oracle Standard Edition install directory. ORACLE_SID has been
set.
I need to have both Standard Edition and Client Edition. what am i supposed to
do? kindly help.
