not so uncommon. I have seen even more silly settings on an LG 3100
phone. I used to get an IP address of 255.255.255.255. Yeah, IP
address. And that also was my gateway IP.
It happens when you have hardware that depends more on software for
any use. Usually the higher end models have more capable devices.
Nokia/SE models never have these problems. And usually the case is,
these devices fail under Linux - I had no way of getting my LG 3100
transfer data under Linux. I even hacked ppp code in kernel mode to
force accepting the settings and send the packets nevertheless on that
serial port. It didn't succeed in sending the packets even though my
hack on establishing the link succeeded.
It turns out that they depend heavily on the host operating system and
its 'device driver' which is the (software) modem.
Not sure about this ADSL and Rconnect thing. Could be of a similar
type. Are you able to get it work under Linux? I think reliance
provides drivers for Linux, no?
