Ofcourse you will require a compliance Certification from the
authorities.But there are so many classifications based on the usage of the
appliance.. Example, if your appliance providing data security for Credit
Cards, you will have to get the Payment Card Industries ( PCI)
certification. That means its assurance to the customers that your appliance
is following the standards of PCI.. You can go for ISO also.. it depends
upon the nature and purpose of your appliance.
