If I can talk about irctc here obviously this also belongs here. I
still marked it OT.
I mostly talk about entrepreneurship, business sense and technology.
This article has a bit of all that.
Basically I feel in the gut that just like ATMs and online banking and
online ticket reservation has
completely changed our lives in the way we do banking and ticketing I
am quite certain shopping
also will become completely online.
Even now we have to go to the bank to deposit a cheque or to drop cash
and to access the locker.
And ticketing is something both airline and railway that does not
require any physical interaction.
I believe shopping will never be an online only thing. But at the same
time a lot of articles nearly
every electronic good and more importantly computer peripherals,
components and accessories
can be purchased online without any issue.
We can't buy fruit juice online since flipkart cannot deliver it on time.
I am going to talk about flipkart. Not only that I will also explain
my situation.
I live in Nellai, the place I was born and here you cannot even get
Modern bread. There is a lot of
local manufacturing here and it is not backward at all but I prefer
not to buy computer spare parts here.
So what do I do?
I purchased lot of things in flipkart. And what are the benefits I found?
Let me list them:
1) I can read the reviews of others before buying. Just like Amazon
books or like any other thing that
we Google. Is it going to help if I buy a green net for my garden ?
2) We can purchase something based on the budget and you can sort the
query results with lowest price first
3) You can view the snap and feature list calmly at home without the
hustle of a shop
4) Payment methods of flipkart are cool. They have an eWallet
feature.I initially recharged using SBI, then
ICICI and now my RBS credit card. And I pay my credit card bill using
online banking
So you can see that everything is eased and made friendly and useful.
How do these companies make money? How do they give attractive prices?
They save on real estate. You need not stock inventory in an expensive
locality. They can sell even on a Sunday night.
No need to manage personnel to handle customers.
You can logon to flipkart with your gmail or facebook ID. And payment
gateways are there to talk to banks.
Overall it is just like being able to transfer cash in the dead of the
night when no bank is open, you can buy a
digital camera for 3k if you want an impulsive purchase in the middle
of a dream at night. ;)
