I haven't used Montavista, but I can see some obvious discrepancies in
your story. You claim that your board was a custom board, yet you
expected an off-the-shelf tool-chain/BSP from Montavista to work on
that board - are you some kind of retards or something ??
Infact we chose a ported distro from montavista to save time, and
after getting the package we figured out that most of the on-chip
peripherals were not supported and our project got delayed by months.
It's obvious, isn't it? Repeat after me, a processor port != a platform port
aka Board-Support Package (BSP). If you thought that they were the
same thing, you were the retards, and Montavista is not at fault.
If you are looking into POWERQUICC then "Arabella" is what you
should be closing in. They offer services that includes bringing up
the bootloader/kernel on your custom board (you save a lot of
resources and time).....
Better still, just use a standard reference design that already has a
validated bootloader, kernel and BSP, and forget about all this custom
crap. If you build a custom board, then bring-up is *your* responsibility.
If you think that you're going to be spoon-fed a binary ROM image that's
going to 'just work', I'd like to know what you've been smoking.
