and huge number of websites getting defaced (statistics in

One of the main problems is that security and secure coding practices are
not taught in the undergraduate curriculum. As a result when students start
to code they don't even think of security.
With this in mind we are conducting India's first National Level CTF sytle
Ethical Hacking contest where students will learn about secure coding
practices.
There are ethical hacking contests conducted in India but most of them
require exorbitant amount of money to take part and travel to one of the
metros.
In the international Capture the flag contests Amrita has been the only
Indian university taking part for the past three years. We want to see many
more Indian college students taking part too.
InCTF is *mainly targeted for students who don't know anything about
security*. Prerequisite is knowledge of any programming language. We help
them to learn.
We have mentors from industry as well (VeriSign, TCS). We are giving away*40K
* as first prize to the winning team (team can have max 5 members). Cash
prizes for *top 30* teams as well.
Each team has to have faculty mentor. The faculty mentor does not need to
know anything about security but just help motivate the students and get
them permission in lab etc. We are giving prizes to faculty mentors too and
will be inviting them to a conference later where we will discuss about how
to include security coding practices in the undergraduate syllabus.
Please help in spreading the word to who ever you know because even though
we forward the emails, students may not register as they are afraid of
taking part thinking they dont know. This contest is mainly for those who
don't know. We help them to learn.
If you know faculty from other colleges please forward it to them and then
call them and ask them to register students.
You can send it to your alumni list , students whom you taught or are
teaching currently etc. They may have friends in other colleges who can take
part.
No travel is needed to take part.
