Some modems allow you to connect them through ethernet and they behave
just like routers. That kind of a device should work with all versions
of Linux. Maybe you should consider avoiding ones with only USB
support.
One more related info is, you would be able to access the BSNL modem
console via
http://192.168.1.10 ;(as like a router)
