Problem fixed. The account had been disabled in the
server!
The guy in our area exchange, Mr. Subramani, is a very
nice guy, very hardworking too.
I told him that I got the message "CHAP authentication
failed: The account has expired" and he said I
re-check the password. He apparently had tried
connecting from a windoze machine from the exchange
and he said he got some 691 error or something that
said "please check your password"! WTF. What has
account termination got to do with incorrect password?
When he checked with the server, somehow the account
had been disabled. He then asked them to reset it and
informs me that I was correct, what pppoe in GNU/Linux
said was absolutely correct. He is now eager to learn
to setup pppoe on GNU/Linux for better
troubleshooting!
