Abstract:
Network Scanning is the primary security auditing process used to
prevent the Reconnaissance attacks and measure the online risk. It
involves determining exposures in terms of hosts, OS and services and
further conducting detailed analysis of network activity to uncover
and isolate the threats. Network security scanning involves the
following exploring activities using various techniques:
o PING SCANNING
o PORT SCANNING
o OS DETECTION
o FIREWALKING
The techniques used to perform these four operations are based on the
specifications of the protocols like ICMP, TCP, IP, UDP, FTP etc.
