In that case you can also try IndiMail. IndiMail also allows *proprietary
solutions like Exchange die a very slow death*. i.e you do not have to
migrate all users out of in one shot. You can transfer few users per day.
IndiMail has SMTP, IMAP and POP3 agents which are location aware. It will
handle the job of transferring mails, imap, pop3 connection to exchange for
users who have not yet been migrated. IndiMail significantly modifies the
qmail source code to achieve the location aware property. The same location
aware property allows IndiMail to distribute users for a domain across
multiple boxes without having to rely on networked filesystems like NFS. In
fact IndiMail was originally written to allow seamless migration of users
out of Exchange and Lotus Notes to a non-proprietary email solution.
IndiMail also has a feature called MIGRATEUSER which allows on the fly
migration of users as and when they authenticate.
IndiMail is free (GPLv3) software entirely coded in C. More details at
