Postfix is a good choice. That is what I use.
based email server, what are the tools that could be used to migrate the

any other free software tools that i could use for this purpose? How

export users from active directory to 389 ds? Do i have to do it manually?
Since CSVDE seems to be the preferred way I have a
question here.
Why not use LDIF?
I wonder.
Samba LDAP is gunning towards AD compliance. It is far from
the goal but is quite functional right now.
I *think* that all LDAP servers should mandatorily support LDIF
for importing/exporting users.
But I have a feeling that you should trust other's answers
rather than mine which is quite theoretical.
