Hi folks,
As some of you might know, Linux-Bangalore is an yearly event
conducted by Bangalore LUG (BLUG) which attracts thousands of techies
from all over the world. I'm a regular there since last two years.
The talks given are top-notch with speakers from all over the
world (Miguel de Icaza, Nat Friedman, Harald Welte, Brian Behlendorf,
Sirtaj Singh Kang to name a few). It's pretty much the only Linux event
which remains refreshingly community-driven, rather than vendor-driven.
The entry fee is around 500 rupees (lunch & snacks included), the event
takes place across 3 days. I enjoyed the past 2 years, and I'm guessing
it would be as enjoyable this time, if not more.
I haven't seen much discussion about this in ILUGC, for
whichever reason. Recently, Atul Chitnis, the organizer of the event,
started off the dicussions on the linux-bangalore list, with a request
for suggestions and announcement of confirmation of the venue (until
last year, it used to happen in IISc., but has been discontinued from
this year due to problems with the IISc authorities). I can heartily
recommend this event, so please sign-up at:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/linux-bangalore-2005/
And participate in the discussions. The previous year's pictures, info,
etc is available on:
http://linux-bangalore.org/
All the Indian LUGs are given a separate track to do their own talks,
and Atul Chitnis will announce when they start accepting talk proposals.
Vamsee.
