Use a LiveCD to see if it works if you have physical access to such an
unit.
To the best of my knowledge, a touchscreen is a film over the display
and behaves like a mouse giving the co-ordinates of the pointer; very
much like the mouse we are used to. They used to be serial mouse
compatible now they are probably USB mouse compatible.
