In any case, I have been getting back to linux (as I am getting
involved with some development work) and one of the things I notice
when updating and downloading from distro mirrors is the lack of any
Indian distribution server. When Indonesia has a few, its sad that
there is not even one for India.
Oh - one more reality check about the lack of mirrors in India.
Given the way the Internet in India is built up [not very much peering
at all, despite having a "national internet exchange" up, running and
exchanging derisory amounts of traffic] - it is often far faster to sync
from a mirror in singapore or hong kong depending on where your ISP gets
upstream connectivity from. Even for me - and I live in Adyar, less
than three or four miles from the IIT campus.
ps:
Canada about a year or so ago. I used to be part of the organizers
group running the linux/unix users group there, and was quite
which lug? There's a few dozen big ones out there.
